Through this project, it gave me the awareness to continuously look out for how I can improve the situation and condition of a place. In Pasar Karat, I realized that people worked hard and not necessarily have the best of facilities. Not everybody has the privilege to work under favorable conditions like in an air conditioned space. Therefore, it brought to my teams attention on how we can contribute to improve the situation of the market vendors along the stretch of market. First, we proposed ways to enhanced their working conditions. Secondly, we thought on ways to preserve the market culture and allow it to be modular for the vendors conveniences. Moreover, we thought of ways to allow for vibrancy to attract both locals and tourist alike into the street art culture of the place. With all that, our proposal to using colourful crates that are disposed or can be received for a low price came to being. I enjoyed the experience working with my team mates brainstorming for creative solutions in this module. Also, going around in search for the crates and interviewing the locals were a different experience that took me out from my comfort zone. If anything, this module really thought me on time management. From this module, I am more aware of the hardships that Malaysians go through in their day to day life through speaking with the locals. In the future, I hope to be able to contribute more to the society by providing jobs and helping people to establish their own businesses.
