Project 1- Furniture For An Elderly
Task - Several main aspects of the furniture in terms of usability, size, design requirments, etc are to be addressed.
- Who is it for?
- Anthropometrics
- Portability
- Where is it placed?
- Construction method
- Functions
- Are special fixing and fittings needed?
- Ergonomics
- How long would it take to make?

Project 1 Final

Models, Renderings, Presentation

Learning Outcome -
- Learned to Identify and analyze a client's need and to design a furniture according to the need and the contextual spaces of the client.
- Grasped and applying ideas of environmental sustanainability into the designing of the furniture. For instance, the orientation placement of the furniture outdoors, the sustainable material choices and the harnessing of solar energy.
- Learned to design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context which impact users experiences.
Project 2 - Centre For The Elderly
Task -
- Pre-Design (Design Analysis)
1. Understanding the site: A thorough site investigation and analysis is required to inform students of design decision.
2. Understanding the brief: Identify and research the user needs
3. Based on the site and user needs, brainstorm ideas for exploration of the communal space.
- Schematic Design (Problem Solving)
1. Conceptual thinking
2. Develop sketch plan and section to respond to environmental and user needs
- Design Development (Resolving Design)
1. Develop interior poetics (inside/outside relationship) by taking into account interaction between environment and architectural space/form

Final Model

Learning Outcome -
- Learned to apply ideas of environmental sustainability in design
- Learned to design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context which impact on users’ experiences
- Able to combine the environmental needs, the site, and the users’ experiences within simple building design in the open landscape/suburban context
- Learned to design ideas based on clustered spatial typology
- Improved on producing drawings (both 2D and 3D), modelling
- Improved inverbal presentation to design communication in terms of Architectural design
